Fourth Annual Festival of Nations Unites Students, Families, and Community

Oxford, Mississippi — Over the past four years, Oxford High School’s Festival of Nations has grown into a vibrant celebration of cultures that bring together our schools and local community.

This annual event showcases the rich cultures represented by our students, their families, and community members through various live performances, cuisine, music, traditional attire, and more.

This year’s Festival of Nations, held on April 21, welcomed an estimated 775 attendees and featured cultural displays from Bolivia, Chile, China, Egypt, France, Germany, Honduras, India, Italy, Mexico, Morocco, Nepal, Russia, Saudi Arabia, the United States, and Yemen.

Several community partners also participated in this event, including L.O.U. Reads, the University of Mississippi’s African Dance & Drum Ensemble, the University of Mississippi’s Chinese and Arabic Flagship Programs, and the University of Mississippi’s Modern Language Programs in Russian, Italian, and German. Additionally, several Oxford High School clubs attended, including CHARM (Chargers in Healthcare, Advocacy, Research & Medicine), Poetry & Popcorn, and Conservatory Club.

New this year, a health fair was held alongside the Festival of Nations, further expanding the event’s impact and offerings. Partners included the University of Mississippi’s Department of Public Health, the American Pharmacists Association, the University of Mississippi’s COPE Clinic, Charger Health & Wellness Clinic, Ole Miss Exercise Science, Youth Mental Health First Aid, Communicare, and the University of Mississippi Dental Brigade.

The Festival of Nations continues to bring students, families, and community partners together through an evening celebrating cultural experiences, learning, and connection. Oxford High School looks forward to continuing this tradition and welcoming the community back for future celebrations!
