Oxford, Mississippi — Oxford High School softball is celebrating a standout achievement this season, as an OMS eighth grader competing on the high school varsity team has broken the program’s single-season home run record.

With 10 home runs recorded this season, Jayla Dukes has surpassed the previous single-season record of seven, setting a new benchmark for the program.

In addition to her record-setting performance, Jayla helps lead the team in every major offensive category. She holds a .542 batting average with 32 hits, has driven in 32 runs, stolen 17 bases, and maintains an outstanding .667 on-base percentage while striking out just three times this season.

Beyond the numbers, Jayla’s growth and maturity have stood out throughout the season. Her leadership, positive attitude, and consistent energy make her an invaluable teammate. While her statistics are exceptional, it’s her character and presence on and off the field that truly set her apart, said Oxford High School Softball Coach Dana McGivney.

Join us in congratulating Jayla on her record-breaking season!
